About Skylo
Skylo is a global Non-Terrestrial Network service provider based in Mountain View, CA, offering a service that allows smartphone and IoT cellular devices to connect directly over existing satellites.
Skylo’s direct-to-device service is now live across four continents, with more than 50 million square kilometers of coverage, in partnership with multiple satellite operators, mobile network operators (MNOs), Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs. Devices connected over satellite are managed and served by Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN, featuring a 3GPP standards-based cloud-native base station and core. Skylo provides anywhere, anytime connectivity solution that seamlessly roams between terrestrial and satellite networks. Our focus is on enabling connected services for people outdoors and connected workflows across three main verticals: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT.
This role is located Espoo, Finland where we are onsite 3 days a week in office.
Summary Of How You Will Impact Skylo
As we continue to grow and expand our services, we are seeking an experienced RAN software engineer to design and develop the next generation NTN RAN system. We offer an opportunity to join our exceptional team in Espoo, Finland where you will have access to diverse technical talent and their support including software, hardware, chipsets, satellite, network virtualization and Q/A and testing services.
How You Will Contribute
- Design, implement and validate NB-IoT/5G NTN radio access features according to 3GPP specifications
- Design, implement and validate Skylo specific RAN enhancements
- Actively contribute to the architecture, design, and code reviews of the RAN software
- Implement performance metrics, unit tests, logging and other support infrastructure to help ensure the quality of the developed RAN features
- Actively contribute to development of the RAN interfaces towards the Core network and operational systems to facilitate Skylo’s unique end-to-end non-terrestrial network
- Support Skylo network engineering teams as a subject matter expert on RAN technology
- Actively contribute to the RAN software documentation
What We Look For
- Master’s degree in Telecommunications or equivalent
- At least 5 years of embedded SW development experience in algorithm, protocol stack or similar area
- Software development experience in wireless communication protocol stack
- Familiar with 3GPP LTE/NB-IoT/NR RAN standards and specifications
- Strong knowledge of C++ programming language
- Familiar with Linux software development environment
- Highly collaborative, with excellent communication skills, and able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Additional skills:
- Scripting and test automation tools
- C/Matlab/Python
- CI/CD tools and practices
- DevOps tools and methodologies
