SPACE SYSTEMS

This position will also work closely and develop strong relationships with Program Management, R&D Engineering and Test, Planning/Change Management, Material Management, & Manufacturing Engineering. They also implement engineering change to both systems and processes to optimize business efficacy.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary purpose of the Project Engineer is to lead the technical aspects of project execution.  The PE is the bridge between Design Engineering and Production.  Their primary responsibility is to ensure that the day-to-day tasking gets completed.  This often involves ad-hoc problem solving and coordination.  PEs are the boots on the ground leaders who ensure we get from start to completion. This role requires thriving in a fast-paced environment, critical thinking, pragmatic problem solving, and lots of cross department communication & coordination.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

  • Provide innovative solutions and guidance when faced with engineering problems, leveraging advanced technical knowledge and theories.
  • Share and apply knowledge on the effectiveness of engineering concepts and theories, and interface with related technical systems beyond immediate responsibilities.
  • Create, review, and enhance technical documents related to your projects, ensuring clarity and precision in documentation.
  • Offer project management advice and assist other teams in project design and execution, ensuring effective communication and prioritization.
  • Assess program risks, communicate them effectively, understand mitigation plans, and track their progress to ensure successful risk management.
  • Develop personal strategic plans with minimal supervision, while seeking guidance from senior engineers and management when necessary.
  • Take ownership of tasks and projects, challenge the status quo, and consistently make priority assessments to drive improvements and deliver results.

 

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering (or related)
  • 3+ years’ experience as a n engineer, ideally in aerospace
  • Hands-on technical experience with complex electro-mechanical systems/assemblies
  • Strong communicator, with proven ability to write clear and concise technical documentation
  • Can-do attitude and flexibility to thrive around growing teams and processes

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • Strong experience in project management and/or project engineering
  • Knowledge of project management, production interface and ERP software systems such as JIRA, Team Center and ERP/MRP
  • Knowledge of production quality metrics
  • Hands-on experience with composite assemblies
