Job Overview & Responsibilities

Provide leadership for the launch site mission certification team. Provide horizontal technical leadership across multiple missions and product lines. Promote horizontal technical integration between technical groups, Denver and Production VSEs, RSEs, Local Certification Leads, Production and Launch Operations and the launch vehicle product lines during the cycle of the mission.

Duties include:

  • Build, Develop, and train the launch site mission certification team.
  • Lead the team executing the mission certification process for the launch processing phase and ensure consistency and process adherence.
  • Promote integration with production operations certification team, ensuring effective communication and handoffs.
  • Manage priorities and ensure staffing supports schedules.
  • Monitor/facilitate empowerment of the certification team and elevation of issues to appropriate Vehicle Systems Engineer (VSE) and/or Responsible Systems Engineer (RSE) for resolution as appropriate.
  • Support of Technical support to Anomaly Review Boards (ARBs)/Engineering Review Boards (ERBs), technical meetings, programmatic meetings.
  • Special projects for the Chief Engineers Office as required.

Required Education

Bachelor

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 8 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • At least 8 years applicable experience in the associated technical or administrative area, plus a minimum of 2 years managing people, project management or team lead experience or a combination of the three.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a team.
  • Familiarity with launch vehicle design and launch site functions.
  • Experience with issue resolution and working with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to lead a team to solve complex issues that cross-functional and operational interfaces.
  • Ability to listen effectively, demonstrate understanding, clarify meaning for others, and speak with clarity and precision.
  • Demonstrated technical competence and understanding of Design Engineering practices and processes.
