Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking an experienced Principal Engineer Systems to support systems engineering efforts for the Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile/Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (IRBM/ICBM) Targets Program as part of the Systems Engineering Integration & Test team within the Launch Vehicle business unit in our Chandler, AZ office.
The Principal Engineer Systems will support the IRBM/ICBM Targets Program requiring the incumbent to function in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
The Principal Engineer Systems will:
Possess strong technical problem solving, written and verbal communication skills to generate and document system level launch vehicle requirements, perform vehicle performance assessments and participate in system level verification/data review activities.
Regularly interface with program management, engineering staff and external customers.
Occasionally work during odd hours (nights/weekends) and occasionally longer than normal (>40 hrs/wk) to meet deadlines.
Possess a strong resolve to drive tasks to completion autonomously and possess demonstrated mentoring/training skills.
Implements and manages system requirements in the Requirements Management databases (DOORS).
Provide data for and assist in risk management (identifies potential risks) and trade study processes.
Support system design, data analyses, interface verification, testing, and failure/anomaly resolution.
Support the testing and/or evaluation/validation of one or more components of a system or subsystem analytical model or actual system implementation.
Prepare and present materials at program major milestone meetings.
Manage systems engineering activities, work products, and team dynamics using agile/scrum methodologies.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 1 years of experience.
U.S. Citizenship is required
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
Travel 10% of the time (domestic).
Preferred Qualifications:
A strong experienced-based and academic foundation in Systems Engineering fundamentals is desired.
Experience with Northrop Grumman Space Systems LVBU Systems Engineering standards/guidelines and expectations is desired.
Experience with external customer interfacing (meetings, presentation, negotiation) is desired.
System testing and launch operations experience is desired.
