Job description

The role will be responsible as the primary contact for Production Quality - setting the standard for Quality Assurance and compliance in manufacturing.

You’ll establish best practice quality process, tools and techniques in support of our production activities both internally and within our manufacturing partner. This will include inspection, measurement and calibration, data analysis, non-conformance management and resolution, data analysis and continuous improvement.

This role also supports effective supplier quality, tools and techniques. This will include the support of supplier appraisal, advanced product quality planning, supplier assessment, non-conformance management, supplier performance metrics and continuous improvement.  

Requirements

·         Working with the manufacturing / production team, providing quality oversight. Reporting and escalating issues, promoting visibility and ensuring consistently high-Quality standards

·         Determination and definition of Quality processes and inspection requirements, including definition of supplementary documentation. Ensuring process adherence and requirement compliance, such as performance and traceability

·         Performing and supporting internal and external audits

·         Oversee non-conforming product disposition, communicate with suppliers regarding NCs, and escalate supplier corrective actions when required.

·         Conduct thorough inspections of incoming materials, in-process assemblies, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications

·         Perform visual, mechanical, and electrical/electronic inspections using a variety of precision measurement tools and equipment

·         Performing Measurement Systems Analysis, understanding resolution, accuracy and precision. Establishing calibration requirements and managing compliance

·         Determining and gathering quality data to monitor process performance, confirming process capability and implementing Statistical Process Control. Establishing metrics and a performance reporting dashboard

·         Managing the non-conformance and corrective / preventive action system

·         Analysis of quality data to improve reliability and quality and ways of eliminating unsatisfactory performance.

·         Support the set up and maintenance of an approved supply chain including the initial identification processes and methodologies for potential suppliers with both engineering and supply chain teams.

·         Conduct supplier capability assessments (SCA) in support of an informed approach to supplier selection and continuous improvement.

·         Establish good relations with the supplier’s quality representatives and become a trusted partner.

·         Drives supplier quality input to ‘made to specification’ design reviews and works with the stakeholders to ensure the supplier quality risks across the program are understood and under control.

·         Communicate supplier feedback and progress to relevant internal stakeholders, escalating issues as appropriate.

·         Support the Supply Chain team to establish and develop quality procedures and documentation to ensure compliance, accuracy, efficiency, and clarity of requirements with suppliers.

·         Drive and support suppliers in continuously improving quality and performance.

·         Analyses internal and external quality data, documents, and acts on opportunities for improving reliability and quality.

·         Identifies ways of eliminating unsatisfactory performance, doing things better, cheaper, and/or faster whilst maintaining reliability and quality

·         Ensure compliance with defined operational safety controls and promote product safety awareness and culture. 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

·         Quality Assurance experience working with complex electronics / telecommunication products.

·         Working knowledge of ISO 9001 / AS9100 / ISO 13485 requirements

·         Demonstrated in field experience of supplier evaluation, auditing, development, and management of performance metrics.

·         Practical experience of defining quality processes and procedures in support of a complex production environment

·         Ability to facilitate Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis meetings, ensuring action plans are progressed and process control plans captured.

·         Qualification or experience in Six Sigma / Total Quality Management tool sets

·         Familiar with root cause / problem solving techniques (5Y, 8D, Ishikawa etc.)

·         Understanding and experience of advanced statistical techniques

·         Strong process and continual improvement skills
