Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Systems Software Analyst – M&S System Analyst (24-452) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

Applicant will be expected to provide technical expertise in the area of MDS modeling and simulation integration, characterization, and/or analysis. As part of an Agile Scrum team, the applicant will develop, and complete features and stories mapped to program objectives

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and execute assessment characterization on C2BMC and its interactions with current and planned MDS assets
  • Document analysis results in reports and briefings
  • Present analysis results to a variety of audiences; develop requirements for large, complex system models/simulations and or test/analysis tools
  • Execute, test, and evaluate MDS level, large scale models/simulations; develop, test, and evaluate threat scenarios

Basic Qualifications:

  • An active Secret clearance is required to start.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree  and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 1 years of experience, or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
  • Applicant must have a solid engineering background that covers a variety of disciplines which support integration and assessment of missile defense models into a federated architecture.
  • Technical specialty areas may include but are not limited to performance analysis and characterization of large-scale complex system simulations including ballistic missile threats, weapon systems, command and control, RF sensors, and IR sensors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of OSM and VACSSim models preferred.
  • Working or theoretical knowledge of ballistic and non-ballistic missile defense concepts, Battle Management and Command and Control (BM/C2) systems, defense communications systems, and the Missile Defense System (MDS) in general.
  • Strong background in math and physics.
  • Experience using MATLAB to support analysis of complex data. Familiarity with Unix/Linux, Agile Scrum, and continuous integration.
  • Specific knowledge of one or more MDS elements, such as C2BMC, AN/TPY-2, LRDR, BOA, SBIRS, GMD, Aegis BMD, and PATRIOT.
  • Experience with scenario generation a plus.
  • Experience with reading/ writing Java a plus.

Salary Range: $97,500.00 - $146,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
