Job Overview & Responsibilities

As an Electrical System Design Engineer on the Vulcan Development Airborne Avionics team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating new Avionics Systems for the Vulcan Centaur V. Responsibilities may include:

  • Interpreting and decomposing program/project level requirements into avionics level requirements and objectives.
  • Understand and generate avionics system development roadmaps.
  • Establishing conceptual operational sequences.
  • Executing trade studies for new electrical system concepts and architectures.
  • Defining launch vehicle Control, Power, Instrumentation and Communication System requirements.
  • Performing electrical system analyses (for example – sensor calibration/compensation, power loads and capacity, voltage drop, signal integrity, test like you fly, system failure).
  • Understand electrical engineering concepts like signal filtering and amplification, bandwidth, feedback and control.
  • Perform hardware / software requirements definition, integration, design review and lab test support in the Airborne System Integration Lab.
  • Integrating Avionics system components onto the launch vehicle at the factory and launch site.

Minimum of 2 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience with instrumentation, electrical control and/or power systems.
  • Proficient at working with integrated hardware and software teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, coordination and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrable communication and public speaking skills (verbal and written; including presentations).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related technical from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience with systems engineering and system integration.
  • Solid understanding of problem definition and issue resolution process steps.

Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $80,292.00 - $125,404.00

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
