Description

R&D Programme Coordination Engineer in the Galileo and EGNOS Evolution Division, Galileo and EGNOS Programme Department, Directorate of Navigation.

Under the direct authority of the Head of the Galileo and EGNOS Evolution Division, you will coordinate cross-cutting programme management actions and implement a portfolio of EU-funded GNSS R&D activities.

Duties

Your tasks and responsibilities will include:

 

  • supporting the head of the Division in the coordination of several cross-cutting programme management actions (such as reporting or communication);
  • connecting the Galileo and EGNOS programmes from an R&D perspective: coordinating the R&D items related to the services that could be implemented as part of the Galileo or the EGNOS infrastructure, or as part of both (ARAIM, authentication, or integrity for high accuracy), in close cooperation with the Galileo and EGNOS teams;
  • coordinating and implementing a portfolio of EU-funded GNSS R&D. As part of this task, you will:
    • help devise the roadmap in coordination with the Galileo and EGNOS Evolution teams, the Directorate of Navigation and relevant interfaces in the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality;
    • propose and formulate R&D activities to be included in work plans to be approved by the European Commission;
    • run industrial activities as a Technical Officer (preparation of the procurement, follow-up of the related activity, reporting, management of resources and schedule).

Technical competencies

Experience in the field of Satellite and Radio navigation principles, systems and related technologies
Experience in the preparation of procurement activities for technology development and innovation (Statements of Work, proposal evaluation, etc.)
Experience with industrial procurement and development, verification processes and the conducting of reviews
Knowledge of the space-related industrial landscape and ability to define technology development roadmaps identifying future trends in technology requirements

Education

A master's degree in a scientific or engineering discipline is required.

Additional requirements

Programme management experience would be considered an asset.

Important Information and Disclaimer
In principle, recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the master’s degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.

Applicants must be eligible for security clearance by their national security administrations.

During the recruitment process, the Agency may request applicants to undergo selection tests. Additionally, successful candidates will need to undergo basic screening before appointment, which will be conducted by an external background screening service, in compliance with the European Space Agency's security procedures.
