NEUTRON

PROPULSION SYSTEMS ENGINEER I/II
Based out of Rocket Lab's headquarters in Long Beach, CA the Propulsion Systems Engineer I/II is responsible for critical propulsion system development through certification for the Neutron Launch Vehicle.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
- Work on Neutron vehicle engine development and launch operations.
- Develop integrated vehicle level engine tests for both performance validation and reliability. Perform analyses to support verification activities, including leading and/or participating in tests and demonstrations.
- Develop, review, and provide certification products including design, analysis, qualification test data, drawings, and reports.
- Create or review engineering documentation including requirements, interface control documents, test plans and data review.
QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL BRING AS A PROPULSION SYSTEMS ENGINEER I:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or related fields
- Knowledge of fundamentals in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and fluid system design.
- Experience with at least one of the following: requirements development, requirements decomposition and allocation, verification plan development, test and evaluation, test plan and procedures development, NASA or USAF certification of spacecraft and launch vehicles, NASA or USAF engineering standards.
QUALIFICATIONS YOU’LL BRING AS A PROPULSION SYSTEMS ENGINEER II:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or related fields
- 2+ years experience developing, testing, or operating complex fluid systems (e.g., aircraft hydraulics, oil & gas processing facilities, aerospace test & launch sites, rocket fluid systems)
- Knowledge of fundamentals in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and fluid system design.
- Experience with at least one of the following: requirements development, requirements decomposition and allocation, verification plan development, test and evaluation, test plan and procedures development, NASA or USAF certification of spacecraft and launch vehicles, NASA or USAF engineering standards.
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
- Advanced degree in a fluid mechanics-heavy field
- Experience with Methyl/LOX fluid systems.
- Experience in systems engineering principles, including the Systems Engineering V model, requirements development, and V&V (Verification and Validation).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel and support engine operations at the launch facility.
- Must be physically able to commute to buildings.
- Ability to communicate outside of work hours.
- Ability to occasionally work extended hours/or weekends as need.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
Level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
