EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Vice President of Global Aviation Sales for In-Flight Connectivity in our Hughes Network Systems division. This position can be located at either our Germantown, MD or Lisle, IL.

This position will lead sales and business development efforts in the commercial aviation sector. This role leads large-scale enterprise sales and drives growth through advanced IFC solutions. This role will be responsible for cultivating strategic relationships, developing business strategies, and executing sales initiatives to expand Hughes' presence in the commercial aviation market.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Execute Sales Strategies: Lead the development and execution of sales strategies for IFC solutions, targeting Fortune 1000 enterprise accounts within the commercial aviation industry.
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at major airlines, leveraging industry knowledge to offer innovative connectivity solutions.
  • Revenue Growth: Drive revenue and market share growth through strategic account management and sales initiatives.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, product development, and customer success, to ensure seamless delivery and support of IFC services.
  • Industry Presence: Represent Hughes at trade shows and industry events, staying informed on industry trends and technology advancements.
  • Business Development: Identify new business opportunities and craft customized solutions that align with the evolving needs of commercial aviation clients.
  • Drive Revenue Growth: Spearhead revenue growth in Commercial and Business Aviation by crafting and delivering innovative technical solutions.
  • Capture Market Opportunities: Build and maintain trusted relationships with airlines at all levels to drive the capture process and secure business.
  • Lead RFP Responses and Proposals: Oversee the RFP response process, crafting compelling proposals that articulate the vision, benefits, and value of our products and solutions, leading to deal closures.
  • Maintain Industry Presence: Stay informed on industry trends, technology advancements, aircraft connectivity equipment, and passenger experience demands. Represent the company at trade shows and industry events.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Navigate FAA and EASA guidelines and certification processes, offering pragmatic solutions for implementing our products in compliance with regulations.
  • Customer-Centric Collaboration: Collaborate closely with customers, R&D, engineering, operations, and customer success teams to translate customer needs into product priorities and detailed requirements.
  • Product Development Leadership: Define and guide the development of current and next-generation products in collaboration with sales, engineering, technology partners, and customers.
  • Strategic Contract Negotiation: Lead complex negotiations involving finance, technical teams, legal, and product to finalize contracts and agreements.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute future business strategies in collaboration with Sales, Program Management, and Engineering teams.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation, aerospace, mechanical engineering, computer science, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience supporting, and or selling aviation systems.  
  • 15+ years of experience in aviation.
  • Previous experience in the aviation industry.
  • Previous experience working in IFEC   

Preferred Qualification:

  • Proven experience in sales and account management, specifically within the commercial aviation or telecommunications sectors.
  • Strong understanding of in-flight connectivity technology and its applications within the commercial aviation market.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to influence decision-makers at all organizational levels.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with experience in analyzing complex data sets.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to meet with clients and prospects. Experience closing deals with at least one (or more) key region: (1) Americas, (2) Europe/Africa/Middle East, and or (3)Asia/Pacific.
