Vast is looking for a Senior QMS Program Manager, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Quality and Supply Chain, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.
This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Managing a team of QMS Engineers and Inspectors
- Responsible for the development, use, management, audit, and review of the Quality Management System, with success being measured through maintaining certification and achieving the agreed Quality Objectives.
- Own and prepare for Audits (External, Internal), including serving as lead for the certification bodies and auditors
- Serve as the Global Process Owner for QMS processes, ensuing a customer-focused approach and ensuring changes to the QMS are planned and integrated to maintain the QMS
- Ensure and sustain AS9100 conformance of the quality management system is established, maintained and continuously improved
- Support Process Owners in ensuring that QMS risks are identified, regularly assessed, and appropriately mitigated, through KPI review and management
- Process Owner for Document and Information management and other processes as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in engineering, supply chain management, or business) or equivalent experience on the job
- Minimum of 5 years experience in an ISO certified manufacturing facility working with or supporting a management system
- Minimum 3 years of leading a team.
- Experience in leading and managing audits to ISO 9001, TS/IATF 16949, ISO 13485, or AS9100 requirements
- Proven ability to influence across functions and leadership
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrated familiarity with program/project management and managing associated schedules.
- Ability to make independent judgments with limited information
- Logical and strategic approach to solving problems
- Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction.
Additional Requirements:

- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
