Job description

Your Mission 

The task of the Valve Development Engineer within the Propulsion team is to oversee the development of propulsion system valves, from their initial conception to series production. This includes the collection of requirements, design calculations, CAD modelling, drawing creation, manufacturing organization, acceptance & qualification test planning, test conduction, test evaluation and documentation. First prototype assembly and testing also require hands-on work in the manufacturing hall and the test site. 

More specifically, you will: 

  • Define requirements and specifications of the valves together with the requesting team 
  • Perform calculations and design valves according to requirements 
  • Oversee and improve the manufacturing of valves 
  • Assemble valve prototypes 
  • Plan, conduct, evaluate and document valve tests 
  • Be responsible for valve acceptance & qualification 
  • Ensure component and system performance through development testing, design iterations and post-test data reviews 

Who you are and what you have 

  • M.Sc. or M.Eng. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar 
  • Experience in valve development 
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming language 
  • Hands-on experience in test preparation and operation as well as post-test data reviews 
  • Experience with machining processes and drawing creation 
  • Experience with CAD software (preferably SolidWorks or Siemens NX) 
  • Passion for rocket propulsion and space 
  • Ability to effectively collaborate on multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams 
  • Highly organized and proactive with high attention to detail 
  • Driven and eager to learn 
  • Willingness to travel in support of launching and testing hardware 
  • Fluent in English 

Nice to have (optional): 

  • Experience in valve development for rocket engines 
  • Hands-on testing experience with cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility 
  • Experience with valve qualification & certification according to regulatory standards 
  • Knowledge about technical drawing rules and material science
