Vast is seeking a Video Editor to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Media Production. You are a creative, detail-oriented, and skilled editor who will elevate the quality and storytelling of Vast’s video content across a variety of platforms. You will focus on crafting high-quality video edits that amplify Vast's exciting narrative, support executive thought leadership, and enhance our brand through engaging visual content. 

This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location. 

Responsibilities: 

Edit High-Quality Video Content: Manage the post-production process from rough cuts to final delivery, including color grading, sound design, and VFX. 

  • Organize & Catalog Footage: Efficiently import, catalog, and backup raw footage, creating a streamlined workflow for project management. 
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with the director, cinematographer, and other team members to ensure the visual narrative aligns with Vast’s brand and messaging.
  • Enhance Storytelling: Use editing techniques to highlight the the story behind VAST, from hardware to human elements, enhancing brand awareness and affinity. 
  • Implement Creative Feedback: Take direction from creative leads, incorporate feedback, and refine edits through multiple iterations to meet project goals. 
  • Balance Multiple Projects: Manage editing responsibilities for various projects, supporting the team’s need for scalability and timely content delivery. 
  • Support On-Set Production: Assist with DIT tasks when necessary, ensuring footage is backed up and organized, and streamlining daily review. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  •  4-5 years of professional video editing experience, working across various media formats including commercial, narrative, social media, and documentary-style films. 
  • Proficiency in NLE video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve). 
  • Experience in color grading, sound design, and visual effects. 
  • Ability to manage complex projects in a fast-paced, changing environment while meeting tight deadlines. 
  • Strong organizational skills, with the capacity to manage and catalog large volumes of raw footage efficiently. 

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Production, or a related field, or equivalent career experience. 
  •  Experience working within a startup environment or in the tech/aerospace industry. 
  •  Strong storytelling skills, with a keen eye for detail in both visual and narrative aspects. 
  •  Ability to work collaboratively and diplomatically with various stakeholders, from creative leads to engineers and marketing teams. 
  •  A growth mindset, with a passion for experimenting with new forms of visual storytelling. 

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs unassisted
  • Specific certifications, as appropriate

Pay Range 

  • L3 - 95,000-120,000
Salary Range: California
$95,000$120,000 USD

Base salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand. Salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package.
