Job Summary 

The Aerospace Physical Sciences Laboratories (PSL) is a diverse scientific organization that provides a broad and innovative research and development backplane for a growing space enterprise.  PSL’s impact is grown through a diverse research portfolio that blends foundational scientific research with cutting-edge technology development to serve a broad customer base. The Project Manager- Lab Operations Staff III will be responsible for coordinating specific projects in accordance with outlined goals, objects, specifications, and deadlines. Ensures that project is within budget and timeline. Delivers the project according to plan. 
 

Work Model 

This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, CA, which requires 100% onsite work. 

 

What You’ll Be Doing  

  • Leads overall coordination between laboratory functions and enterprise services organizations. Interfaces with Enterprise Services (ES) organization at leadership team (PD and SD level) to provide joint awareness on multi-year planning and fiscal year execution. Enterprise Services interfaces include Facilities, Finance, Safety, Security, and Supply Chain 

  • Provides executive-level oversight and visualization of laboratory operations execution for joint benefit between laboratory organizations and support organizations

  • Developing new processes and visualization tools to provide SLT-level decision makers necessary data for strategic planning, prioritization, and execution

  • Fuses the overall laboratory support activities with tailored visuals and oversight methods across all ETG divisions and regional sites for strategic planning, budgeting, and execution

  • Identifies risks and opportunities in laboratory operations processesDrives joint organizational initiatives to minimize risks and realize opportunities through new processes, applications. As primary liaison between support organizations and laboratory functions, role will have unique perspective of all support tasks and holistic execution

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to serve as primary liaison between lab organizations (cross-ETG) and support organizations (ESC) 

  • Coordinates project communication issues, milestones, and achievement. At project completion, markets project success through internal channels. 

  • Collaborates with technical teams to identify new features and tools to support production processes and workflow. Provides verification and testing for technical team to launch to features
     

What You Need to be Successful - Project Management- Lab Operations Staff III

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or other discipline is required

  • (10) or more years of progressively responsible professional or relevant experience is required

  • Leads project development and execution of operations team to evolve or build new processes, tools, applications

  • Safety:  Provides overall joint coordination and top-level execution management of safety projects, processes (Lab inspection process, others) between laboratory owners and Safety team to drive issue closure, identify risks, and keep “Safety First” organizational mindset 

  • Laboratory Maintenance:  Coordinates and provides overall execution process for prioritization, planning, and execution of laboratory maintenance

  • Facilities Coordination:  With laboratory and facilities management, provides joint coordination and top-level execution management of future and current facility activities, including future scope facility projects associated with laboratories, planned and future facility work orders

  • Finance:  Provides strategic planning data for senior-level decisioning on ETG laboratory elements including multi-year capital equipment planning, future laboratory upgrades/constructionIn conjunction with finance teams, provides joint coordination on progress of laboratory procurement activities 

  • Across all these shared organizational functions, analyzes operational effectiveness and drives efficiencies through the development of decision tools, modernized processes in strong coordination with both lab owners and support organizations 

  • Willingness to occasionally travel and to work off-business hours to support customer needs, approximately 25% (as required)

  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.  The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.  Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
