Purpose:
The Intern Program Coordinator provides support to USRA’s Director of Education and Workforce Development Programs by supporting assigned tasks or phase(s) of a project. Under the direct supervision of the Director and Workforce Development Programs and the Intern Programs Senior Manager, this person is responsible for the following specific areas of project administration, including but not limited to program operations and scheduling, business requirements, data reporting, and other operational duties needed.
Position Summary:
USRA is seeking an experienced Intern Program Coordinator for a full-time, exempt position at Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB) in the Albuquerque, NM, area. The successful candidate will have demonstrated abilities in administering project planning, tracking, logistics, and compliance for government-funded programs that promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The Intern Program Coordinator will join the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) STEM Workforce Development Program Team under the direction of USRA’s Director of Education and Workforce Development Programs and will work closely with USRA management to implement the AFRL Scholars Program at KAFB.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support USRA and AFRL management in all aspects of program administration including strategic planning, data gathering, analysis, development, communication, status tracking, implementation, documentation, monitoring, and follow-up, associated with the AFRL Scholars Program activities.
- Collaborate with AFRL management to provide on-site implementation activities and assist with operational elements for scholars located at KAFB.
- Support the selection, placement, and management of program participants, including providing pre-arrival logistics, enrichment events, and exit activities.
- Integrate best practices and innovative approaches to streamline internship programs and implementation plans.
- Coordinate all logistics for student orientation, enrichment activities, and poster sessions.
- Work collaboratively with fellow Intern Program Coordinators to address related tasks effectively.
- Consistently interface with program stakeholders, including USRA’s Director of Education, USRA management, AFRL Program Managers, mentors, external partners, and program participants.
- Support preparation and submission of reports, ad hoc data calls, and other deliverables associated with the AFRL Scholars Program activities.
- Participate in required meetings, activities, and related projects.
- Follow through on action items generated from program team meetings.
- Perform special projects as requested by the USRA Director of Education and Workforce Development and USRA management.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in education, business management, administration, or a related degree is required.
Experience:
- 3-5 years relevant experience of successful experience administering educational programs.
- High degree of communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to secure a government security background investigation at the Secret Security Clearance level.

- Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and transition easily between complex projects requiring simultaneous attention.
- Possess a high degree of flexibility and ability to maintain professional and effective public relations during daily communications with USRA staff, management, and AFRL Program Managers.
- Excellent professional and technical written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop relationships and create effective solutions to communication problems.
- Assimilate, analyze, delegate, and respond to daily contractual, technical, and business operations issues.
- This position receives direct supervision from the Intern Programs Senior Manager. Task/activity priorities and policies are set by management. Work is defined and guidelines provided with a fair degree of latitude.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends, as necessary.
