About the role

A shipping and receiving clerk is responsible for managing the flow of incoming and outgoing shipments in a warehouse, including verifying and recording details of
deliveries, preparing packages for shipment, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring proper documentation for all transactions; essentially, they receive incoming
goods, check for damage, store them appropriately, and then pick, pack, and ship outgoing orders while meticulously tracking inventory levels and maintaining accurate records. 

Location: This job will require you to be onsite 5 days a week at our headquarters in Mountain View, California.

 

Key responsibilities of shipping and receiving clerk:

  • Receiving shipments:
    Unloading deliveries, inspecting goods for damage, verifying quantities against purchase orders, and documenting any discrepancies.
  • Inventory management:
    Storing received items in designated locations, updating inventory records, and maintaining accurate stock levels.
  • Order fulfillment:
    Picking and packing customer orders according to pick tickets, ensuring correct items and quantities are included.
  • Shipping preparation:
    Creating shipping labels, weighing packages, and preparing them for delivery by the carrier.
  • Paperwork processing:
    Completing necessary shipping documents, including invoices, packing slips, and shipping manifests.
  • Damage reporting:
    Identifying and reporting any damaged goods to the appropriate parties.
  • Logistics coordination:
    Communicating with suppliers and carriers regarding delivery schedules and potential issues.
  • Maintaining cleanliness:
    Keeping the warehouse workspace organized and clean. 

 

Skills required for a shipping and receiving clerk:

  • Attention to detail: Accurately verifying quantities and identifying discrepancies.
  • Physical ability: Lifting and moving heavy packages.
  • Organizational skills: Efficiently managing inventory and maintaining proper
    storage.
  • Basic computer skills: Using warehouse management systems to track
    inventory and process orders.
  • Communication skills: Interacting with customers, suppliers, and internal
    departments.

Salary

The salary range for this role is $31.25/hour and will depend on a candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.
