The Payload Launch Sites Support Services (PLSSS) Program within LM Space provides all launch processing support functions for Office of Space Launch (OSL). One of the program's two primary operating locations is Vandenberg AFB, CA. Key elements of the PLSSS program scope include satellite launch processing, satellite transport operations, satellite propellant loading operations, and satellite processing facilities O&M, clean room operations, and safety and environmental services.
This occupation requires the inspection and/or performance of functional and operational tests on missile components, units, sub-systems and systems. Inspect installation of these items. Inspect the checkout and pre-flight test of completed vehicles. Set up and use a wide variety of standard and environmental laboratory test equipment. Certify conformance of all items to company, customer and manufacturers' requirements.
Conduct in laboratory or inspect functional and/or operational tests of missile components, sub-systems, systems, recording devices and test equipment. Use a wide variety of standard and environmental laboratory test equipment to determine conformance with specifications of electrical electronic, pneumatic, structural components and assemblies. Carry out complete inspection of installations and functional operation.
Inspect the installation of test devices, test equipment and recording instrumentation used to determine performance characteristics of entire vehicle or missile systems during ground and flight tests. May be required to maintain certification in propellant protective equipment (i.e. SCAPE).
Survey the disassembly, alteration, modification, reassembly and test of deviate items and certify conformance to specifications if acceptable. Ensure completeness and accuracy of all inspection records and test data. Certify completeness and conformance of workmanship with Company, customer and contract requirements. May be, required to perform precision cleaning inspection (PCI), non-volatile residue (NVR), proof-load inspections, certified welding inspections and non-destructive inspection (NDI). Inspect incorporation of design changes of items described herein. Prepare necessary documentation on all rejected or malfunctioning items. Ensure compliance with documentation and data management system processes.
Travel will be required.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience with inspection practices and procedures; environmental functional and operational test methods; and a variety of functional and environmental test equipment.
Knowledge of electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic theory and inspection practices.
Read and interpret all types of detail and assembly blueprints, drawings, sketches and circuit diagrams, related to systems, structures and instrumentation.
Ability to use all types of inspection precision measuring instruments.
Proficient knowledge of and ability to use computer systems effectively.
Ability to work at various heights on gantries, service towers, high lifts, etc. and to work in confined spaces.
Must have the ability to obtain certification in propellant protective equipment (i.e SCAPE).
Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
Must be a US Citizen.
Must be willing to travel. Occasional odd shifts, and overtime may be required.
Desired Skills:
Certified Weld Inspector.
