Description

Reusable systems are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space. We are seeking a full-time Test Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Test Engineer at our Kent site, you will be responsible for collaborating with other engineers and technicians to test rocket components, design and build test facilities rapidly, as well as operate and maintain them efficiently once they are up and running. You will work with hardware and software, mechanical systems, fluid systems and electrical systems. You must be ready to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot vibration tables, thermal chambers, and thermal vacuum chambers
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot fluid, mechanical, instrumentation, and control systems for various test applications
  • Ensure testing is being conducted safely at all times
  • Develop the detailed test plans, procedures, and campaigns required to validate the flight hardware
  • Enable development, qualification, and investigative testing of Stoke components
  • Design and build fluid, mechanical, data acquisition and control systems for various test applications
  • Train personnel on the required processes and operations of complex test systems
  • Simplify and streamline complex test systems and operations
  • As part of a small team, you will also perform everyday tasks to keep the site running (shipping and receiving, administrative tasks, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Exceptional command of fundamentals
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or similar
  • 1+ years of experience working on mechanical, fluid, or electrical systems (internships and project teams qualify)
  • Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Passion for building something with high quality, willing to attend work with a positive and humble attitude, and willing to take ownership of large and small tasks to help the team be successful
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead

  • Willing to work off-shift, extended hours, and weekends when necessary.
  • Willing to relocate to Seattle, WA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a test focused role
  • Experience with high pressure and cryogenic environments
  • Experience with data acquisition and control systems
  • Experience working with complex mechanical and/or electrical systems and the ability to read drawings and system schematics
  • Experience building data acquisition systems
  • Experience creating P&IDs
  • Experience writing and operating test procedures
  • Able to start working full-time on or before February 2025

Compensation

Target Levels: 

  • Level 1 Range: $91,000 - $114,900
