Position Purpose: The Principal Technician will be responsible for the assembly of electrical/mechanical components for space flight use.


Title: Principal Technician

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Range: $36.00 - $55.00/hour (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Read, understand, and execute work instructions to build advanced and precise electrical/mechanical assemblies.
  • Undertake the development of new assembly techniques and process flows to increase overall output of manufacturing.
  • Aide in the development of new hardware to ensure best practices are being followed for the manufacturability of the hardware to the BCT standards.
  • Be a go to resource to trouble shoot non-conforming issues with the intent to find a path forward with the greatest efficiency.
  • Take ownership and maintain build documentation for assemblies being built. Including filling out work instructions, non-conformance reports and logging time against the applicable work order.
  • Be willing to cross train in multiple areas of specialty.
  • May include personnel management responsibilities.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications/Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 12 years related experience, or a two-year technical degree and 10 years related experience
  • MUST have experience performing precision mechanical assembly
  • Ability to read and work to engineering documentation
  • Familiarity with tools and techniques used for precision manufacturing and assembly
  • Experience using metrology tools (Micrometers, Calipers, Multi-meters, etc.)
  • Applied knowledge of GD&T (ANSI/ASME Y14.5)
  • 10+ years’ experience working in an aerospace production environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring junior technicians
  • Experience using Solidworks and/or Autodesk Fusion 360
  • Excellent manual dexterity, ability to handle small parts
  • Possess strong problem solving and communication abilities
  • High standard of workmanship is a must
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education

 

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.  BCT anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted. However, factors such as candidate flow and business necessity may require BCT to shorten or extend the application window.
