This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to Earth’s orbit and beyond. Engineered with a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is building the road to space.

This role will have the primary responsibility of managing a team of hardworking test engineers focused on integrated testing of mechanical/actuated systems for New Glenn. In this role, you will be responsible for providing people, programmatic, and technical management to reliably execute the scope of this multi-site team. Your team will coordinate with all test stakeholders, design tests to satisfy objectives, perform detailed hazard/mitigation planning, identify instrumentation/test GSE needs, and execute this testing predominantly out of our site in Florida.

As we mature the New Glenn program you will drive efficiency gains in test planning, test execution, as well as test GSE development in order to increase testing throughput while maintaining a high standard of quality and safety prioritization. You will be accountable for defects present in the test process and drive corrective actions to ensure that they are conclusively addressed. You will share in the team’s significant impact on manufacturing, testing, and delivering hardware for the New Glenn Launch Vehicle. Passion for our mission is required!

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree or higher in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of industry experience in launch system, aerospace, or satellite operations testing. Areas of expertise should include hydraulic supply systems and actuators, EMA/EHAs, and associated control systems.
  • Proven experience and successful track record leading teams and influencing company-level policy/direction.
  • Demonstrated experience building, optimizing, and evolving team tools, processes, and standards.
  • Proven experience in motivating other departments within your organization to commit to a collaborative effort and deliver on an aggressive schedule.
  • Strong work ethic with a high attention to detail and team organization skills.
  • Strong written, personal, and computer skills. Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at the executive leadership level and on the shop floor is required.
  • Unwavering commitment to ensuring safety through extensive pre-test planning, training, and culture.
  • Hands-on experience in developing, authoring, and executing integrated tests on flight hardware.
  • Passion for spaceflight and space exploration.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success as a direct manager of a team of at least ten individuals.
  • Demonstrated technical or management expertise in design, operation, testing, or production of pressurized (up to 6000 psi), cryogenic, actuated, and/or hydraulic systems.
  • Program/Project management experience or certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, actuators, servo-valves, and fittings.
