Description
Reusable systems with frequent launch cadence are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space. A highly operable, reliable, safe, and robust ground system is an integral part of a fully reusable launch system. As a Launch Environmental, Health, & Safety Engineer for our dedicated launch complex at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, you will be responsible for developing, commissioning, and operating a new launch pad from scratch. You will be responsible for EHS across Stoke’s Florida sites, including developing, maintaining, & executing Stoke’s environmental stewardship and ensuring Stoke’s operations set the standard for employee and environment health and safety. As part of a small, well-supported team, you will have access to the resources you need to get the job done right while simultaneously boosting your skills at a pace that can’t be matched in most other roles. You must be ready to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.
Responsibilities
- Develop, own, and drive overall EHS strategy for critical facilities and site operations in support of launch site development, launch vehicle processing & testing, and launch operations
- Develop, implement, and enforce EHS policies, procedures, and protocols and implement industry best standards and practices
- Ensure design, build, and operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations
- Complete job hazard assessments and implement engineering controls to eliminate or reduce likelihood of occupation and compliance risk
- Implement and maintain environmental and safety management systems
- Investigate, document, and resolve workplace incidents
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams
- Develop and maintain Spill, Prevention, Control, & Countermeasures (SPCC), industrial wastewater permitting, and Light Management Plans (LMP)
- Develop and manage Environmental Baseline Surveys (EBS), Biological Assessments (BA), and Environmental Assessments (EA), including all supporting analyses and surveys
- Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies including FDEP, SLD 45, FAA, & NASA
- Develop and provide contractor and staff training
- Maintain and improve EHS throughout ongoing operations and maintenance
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a related role working EHS through new site construction as well as operations supporting high-performance applications (space, aviation, amusement park, oil & gas, heavy equipment, energy systems, etc.)
- Proven experience developing and implementing EHS programs including OSHA, fall protection, lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, job site safety, hazmat, and waste streams
- OSHA 30 Hour Certified
- Proven ability to lead, work autonomously, receive and incorporate constructive feedback, and work well on a high performing team
- Innate ability to prioritize and execute
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to lead

- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar field
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in a related role working EH&S through new site construction as well as operations supporting high-performance applications (space, aviation, amusement park, oil & gas, heavy equipment, energy systems, etc.)
- Experience working hazardous operations including operations with high pressure gas systems, cryogenic liquid systems, high power systems, and/or explosive ordnance
- Familiarity with AFSPCMAN 91-710 range requirements as well as DoD explosive siting for launch vehicle programs
- Experience working with 45th SW, 30th SW, and/or NASA and other government agencies
- Master’s degree in engineering, environmental management, EHS, or similar field

Compensation
Target Levels:
- Level 3 Range: $123,000 – $184,400
- Level 4 Range: $144,100 - $240,100
