Description:I am Hourly represented employee who currently work at the main (Sunnyvale/Palo Alto) unit, Santa Cruz, VAFB or Eastern Range facilities must apply to open requisitions on Brass Ring to be considered for the position.
This occupation requires the performance of special operations activities to aircraft loading and offloading and over-the-road transport of one-of-a- kind units, special equipment and material and high-value flight hardware. Knowledge of methods used to handle sophisticated, program peculiar materials in loading and unloading from military and civilian aircraft, and other specialized transport equipment.
Operate truck, tractors, semi-trailers, flatbeds, specialized transport equipment and
towable or conventional forklifts. Rig, load, secure, transport and unload materials and
equipment on and off Company property. Operate in and around, loading and offloading aircraft.
Transport unique, oversized and permitted loads including high-value flight hardware
using one-of-a-kind specialized transportation equipment over long distances. Load
aircraft in accordance with provided load distribution plan. Apply restraint rails, straps,
chains, nets and other devices to prevent load shifting in flight.
Operate trucks, tractors, trailers, and semi-trailers where skillful handling and
maneuvering is required to avoid damage to vehicle and high-value cargo. Pickup cargo
at any location, on or off Company property. Rig, load, secure and unload cargo in
various stages of packaging or protection to prevent damage or loss, using powered
handling equipment.
Complete necessary documentation such as driver logs. Perform any function of the
Truck Driver - Heavy, as required
Materials Transported: One-of-a-kind high-value flight hardware, raw materials, parts,
supplies, assemblies, tooling, machinery, completed end-products and equipment.
Equipment: Trucks, tractors, semi-trailers, flatbeds, special transport equipment,
towable and heavy forklifts and other material handling equipment to load, unload,
protect and secure cargo.
Basic Qualifications:
-Working knowledge of program peculiar regulations and specialized transport
equipment. Knowledge of Company, State, Federal and DoT regulations.
-Knowledge of Flight Line conditions and restrictions.
-Possession of a valid State of California Class A
driver's license and possess all endorsements required by law to support special
operations activities.
-Possession of industrial truck operator's license.
-Ability to operate two-way radio equipment.
-Ability to handle program peculiar equipment.
-Minimum 3 years experience working aircraft loading/off-loading or comparable experience handling and transporting high-value flight hardware.
-Ability to support sustained transport
activity as well as remote site program requirements for extended periods of time.
-Must be able to pass a training course administered by an outside agency to verify and
certify driver qualifications for heavy trucks within 90 days of placement into the job.
-Ability to obtain and maintain secret clearance.

The base range for this position in California is $27.63 - $50.79.
