Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector is actively seeking Technical Writer. This role requires knowledge and skills working with team members to support information systems data sharing and provide writing and editing support to technical teams and management resources in Beavercreek Ohio.

We're looking for a highly motivated individual with an impeccable work ethic and a strong ability to work as an independent team member, in a collaborative fast-moving dynamic team environment.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsibilities are in more than one of the following information systems and/or related areas: personal computer applications use and training, data control and scheduling coordination, systems administration, data security administration, and associated fields. This job incorporates those responsibilities by using data gathering technology and software and then transforming that data into charts, reports and information that drives critical decision making, information sharing and production improvements, this will put you right in the middle of allowing Production, Technical teams and Sr. leadership to all work more effectively and efficiently.

Other responsibilities:

  • Frequent collaboration with internal company personnel. Represents organization on specific projects and tracking metrics. May make presentations to small groups.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Works under only very general supervision. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgement and overall adequacy and accuracy.
  • Edit documents to ensure compliance with style, design, layout, specification, and grammar and spelling requirements.
  • Attend technical meetings, as requested, to capture discussion in minutes or other documentation.
  • Support Program Operations tasking, as assigned.

This position may be filled at a level 2 or 3 based on the qualifications outlined below.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level 2:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Technical Writing, Business, or Management Information Systems or related field with 2 years of related experience; Master’s Degree with 0 years of related experience; Or a Highschool diploma/ GED with 6 years of related experience.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance
    • 2+ years of experience and advanced skills with MS Office applications including Excel, Word, Project, and Power Point.
    • Experience with team collaboration software tools such as MS SharePoint.
    • Experience with developing materials for delivery to customers.
    • Ability to communicate with multiple levels of the organization having excellent presentation skills.
    • Ability to work in a deadline driven environment.
    • Experience with managing multiple activities / requirements at that same time.

  • Level 3:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Technical Writing, Business, or Management Information Systems or related field with 5 years of related experience; Master’s Degree with 3 years of related experience; Or a Highschool diploma/ GED with 9 years of related experience.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance
    • 2+ years of experience and advanced skills with MS Office applications including Excel, Word, Project, and Power Point.
    • Experience with team collaboration software tools such as MS SharePoint.
    • Experience with developing materials for delivery to customers.
    • Ability to communicate with multiple levels of the organization having excellent presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Experience with managing multiple activities / requirements at that same time.
  • Experience with Technical Writing/Editing
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Technical Writing, Business, or Management Information Systems
  • Experience with military / DoD installations and practices.
  • Gather information to develop templates and writing and style guides to adhere to military/civilian specifications and standards of technical writing.
  • A moderate understanding of computer networks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to keep multiple projects moving forward simultaneously.
  • Adept at managing drop in requests and provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and use judgment to make appropriate decisions that support overall project objectives.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Self-starter, drive for excellence and efficiency, strong work ethic.
  • High learning agility and desire to continuously improve knowledge and skills. 
  • Ability to understand business process and opportunity for improvement.
  • Ability to create forms and workflows including management and maintenance of existing sites.
  • Ability to communicate effectively listening, verbally and in writing.

Salary Range: $59,600.00 - $89,400.00Salary Range 2: $73,300.00 - $109,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
