Description

At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manager Logistics Materials 1 to support United States Air Force (USAF) Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) E-11A aircraft (Bombardier Global 6000 Commercial Derivative Aircraft) and associated operations.   This modified aircraft enables a high-altitude, airborne communications gateway that translates and distributes imagery, voice and tactical data from disparate elements — enhancing situational awareness and enabling seamless interoperability for joint and coalition forces operating across air, space, land and sea.

Highly desired for position to be on site at our Middle River, Maryland facility (consideration for periodic visits to this site during month).  Manager responsibilities will require direct engagement with Global Supply Chain (GSC) team, BACN program Management Office and other cross-functional teams to successfully support 24-hour flight operations at home and abroad.  Candidate must be able to lead a diverse group of people and skillsets as well as influence others outside of his/her specific area of responsibility.  Furthermore, this position is forward facing to USAF customers and requires direct communications with them on all logistics matters including management of Government Furnished Equipment, inventory controls and reporting, as well as keeping them informed on pertinent aspects of program.  As part of Global Supply Chain function, our team executes in a fast-paced, high operational tempo work environment to mission critical requirements, significantly diverse assignments, and collaboration and communication across all levels within Northrop Grumman.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Establish Material Operations Strategy to be implemented by Material Operations Management Team
  • Manage import and export of materials to and from OCONUS locations
  • Coordinate with Host Nation Customs and overseas business partners to ensure on time delivery of materials

  • Manage and execute disposition of Aircraft on Ground (AoG) materials tracking from request to receipt
  • Drive continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within program.
  • Manage and communicate material risks and opportunities with internal and external customers
  • Ultimately responsible for inventory control, ensuring stock levels are maintained at an appropriate level by coordinating efficient movement of materials with Global Supply Chain and logistics personnel at Main Operating Base (MOB) and Forward Operating Locations (FOLs).
  • As required, travel to CONUS & OCONUS Operating locations (up to approx. 25% of time annually)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ related experience or a Associates Degree with a 7 years’ related experience, or a High School diploma / equivalent with 9 years’ experience may be considered in lieu of degree
