The Payload and Ground Systems organization within the Northrop Grumman Space Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer or a Principal Systems Engineer.

Position Overview:

  • This position requires multidiscipline knowledge in all areas related to engineering including systems design, hardware, software, and integration and test.
  • The candidate will be reliable, resourceful, work accurately and independently with an ability to anticipate, initiate, and follow through with all responsibilities.
  • Diplomatically interface with all levels of management, employees, internal and external customers, and vendors 
  • Understanding of systems engineering requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of experience, a master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience. 9 years of related experience can be accepted in Lieu of a degree.
  • Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 9 years of experience, a master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 7 years of experience or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of experience. 13 years of related experience can be accepted in Lieu of a degree.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required at the time of application.
  • Experience with requirements decomposition, software verification, and generating system and segment level test procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience using DOORS for requirements management.
  • General knowledge of ground segment architecture
  • Experience using Jira and Agile processes during day-to-day work
  • Understanding of risk and opportunities and data analysis procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using MBSE & Cameo
  • Data Analysis & RF Mission processing

Salary Range: $107,300.00 - $160,900.00Salary Range 2: $133,000.00 - $199,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
