Job description

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

  • Collaborate across teams (manufacturing, production, flight design, build reliability, supply chain) to identify opportunities, propose and implement action items to improve manufacturing processes in a data driven way.
  • Develop and implement full-stack automated vision packages for robotic guidance, quality control and data collection for our manufacturing lines.
  • Test, optimize and qualify vision systems to guarantee compliancy with production standards to meet takt and accuracy requirements.
  • Own, maintain and upgrade existing systems to improve product quality and line efficiency.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or other STEM field.
  • 1+ years’ experience in the design and commissioning of automation and controls systems for manufacturing applications.

  • Experience applying statistical process control (SPC) and other statistical tools (descriptive, inferential, regression and correlation) to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on experience on high-speed applications, large image formats and hyperspectral imaging.
  • Knowledge of image processing on 2D and 3D spaces.
  • Familiarity with field bus networks, serial communication and Ethernet communication.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of production machinery and processes: dispense systems, pick and place, fastener installation, automated bonding techniques (thermo-compression, soldering, ultrasonic welding), high precision assembly lines such as SMT and medical devices.
  • Exposure to different sensor signals (thermocouples, 4-20mA, 0-10V, IO-Link).
  • PLC programming experience, preferably Beckhoff TwinCat 3.
  • Experience solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
