Maxar has an opening on the US Government team. The Business Development Lead will collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet annual revenue and booking quotas while developing and implementing the growth strategy to drive new product awareness in the market. The successful candidate will work closely with the product teams, as well as end and operational users, to identify, assess, and deliver new products to the defense and intelligence communities. The role requires a team player and peer leader with a focus on increasing awareness and adoption of Maxar's robust earth observation imagery solutions and capabilities. 

 

This role is an opportunity to shape the future of advanced solutions with defense and intelligence communities. This leader will utilize their network  throughout the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense to translate user workflows to Maxar's suite of space-based technology solutions, geospatial data, and analytics as well as their Earth and Non­Earth imaging capabilities. 

 

This person’s success will be founded on their business development,sales background, and experience working in the intelligence community, enabling them to drive engagement at the manager and executive levels. The successful candidate should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about the mission and products while conveying compelling value propositions. 

 

Position Description: 

  • Develop and implement a strategy to deliver and drive adoption of new products and solutions; 

  • Leverage existing or establish relationships with senior personnel and operational users in the defense and intelligence communities; 

  • Work with Product and Engineering teams to understand current products and future roadmaps; 

  • Translate user workflows to Maxars products and capabilities; 

  • Identify potential opportunities through established partners, working cross-collaboratively; 

  • Work with the Sales and Finance teams to accurately forecast, implement, and monitor a successful strategic go-to-market program; 

  • Support Sales and Marketing teams in the development of product positioning, presentations, press releases, product workshops, training workshops, and customer visits; 

  • Strengthen and progress deep business and technical relationships through knowledge of the customers mission; 

  • Have an onsite presence at the NGA and other IC agencies, including walking the halls; 

  • Move fast, make decisions, and execute. 

 

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • TS SCI security clearance; 

  • Well-established in the NGA, including strong NGA connections with the ability to act as the eyes and ears of the customer; 

  • Broader Intelligence Community relationships and contacts; 

  • Comfort with the entire sales lifecycle, including business development, sales, proposals, and capture; 

  • Demonstrated success winning NGA government contracts; 

  • Track record of generating revenue; ability to develop end-to-end solutions, establish teaming relationships, and drive product adoption; 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field; work experience may be substituted; 

  • 10+ years of business development or sales experience; five-plus years of experience working for a technology or product-centric company in a sales related capacity; 

  • Proven experience navigating and partnering with the DoD, IC, and its commercial partners, with an understanding of government procurement processes; 

  • Proven leadership capability, with experience leading by example with excellent gravitas and executive presence; 

  • Excellent cross-functional skills across customers, sales, strategy, marketing, product, legal, and operations; 

  • Illustrated success in achieving revenue targets, supporting new business capture; 

  • Self-starter with demonstrated success working in a deadline-driven environment with minimal supervision; 

  • Experience working closely with product and engineering teams, with the ability to translate user workflows to products; 

  • Strong communication skills, with a driven and action-oriented mindset; 

  • Proven experience bringing new products to market. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working within Earth Imagery/GEOINT markets highly desired; 

  • Experience selling products (versus services) highly desired.

To accommodate all locations, we have listed the bottom to the top of the possible range, and will share the target range for a specific location during the recruiting discussion. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidates unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$128,000.00 - $274,000.00 annually.

Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
