We’re on the hunt for a Junior Technician - Electrical on our Satellite systems team at our Montreal office.

Role: 

This is a continuing education level. May require supervision of more experienced technicians or technical staff to perform simple test bench assembly, modification or validation tasks. May be required to perform tests on simple electronic assemblies, passive or active telecommunications equipment, and chamber monitoring on more complex equipment. Must demonstrate initiative and progress within routine tasks with well-defined boundaries.

 

Tasks: 

  1. Align and test simple production equipment according to well-defined procedures or other guidelines. Record test results.
  2. Assist in setting up, modifying and checking test stands for equipment of simple complexity.
  3. Assist more experienced technicians or technologists.
  4. Participate in the monitoring of thermal or vacuum chambers.
  5. Perform work in accordance with internal procedures and in compliance with our occupational health and safety rules.
  6. Perform other related duties.

 

Additional Qualifications:

1. Antenna: Basic knowledge of the discipline. Under supervision, able to assist with various types of antenna testing:

  • FAPT/nearfield testing
  • Multipaction/high power tests
  • PIM tests
  • FTR testing
  • CATR (Compact range) testing
  • Bench testing with vector network analyzer (VNA)

2. Electronics (RF, digital, power, payload): Basic knowledge of the discipline and some experience of the various measuring instruments used:

    • Multimeter
    • Oscilloscope, programmable power supply (power/digital)
    • Power detector, spectrum analyzer (RF/digital)
    • Logic analyzer/generator (digital)
    • Network analyzer (RF/payload)

    3. Calibration: Basic knowledge of the discipline and some experience of the various measuring instruments used

      • Performs calibration, modifications and simple repairs on equipment.
      • Helps prepare shipments for calibration by equipment manufacturers and other calibration facilities.
      • Update database

      4. Vibration:

        • Assists more experienced technicians in preparing vibration tests
        • Assists more experienced technicians in carrying out vibration tests.
        • Assists more experienced technicians with maintenance/calibration of installations.

        5. Maintenance:

          • Help maintain thermal or vacuum chambers, manufacturing process equipment and antenna measurement equipment.
          • Help maintain test facilities
          • Simple calibrations of various instruments and equipment

          6. Thermal:

            • Assists more experienced technicians in preparing thermal and vacuum thermal tests
            • Active monitoring of thermal and vacuum thermal tests
            • First-level maintenance of thermal and vacuum thermal test chambers.

             

            Minimum required qualifications:

            • Education: College diploma or equivalent in mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics or related field as assigned.
            • Experience: 0 to 2 years of relevant experience
            • Language skills: At ease in spoken and written French and English.

            Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
