Director of IT (Montreal)  


GHGSat offers greenhouse gas detection, measurement, and monitoring services to industrial and government customers around the world. The company uses its own satellites and aircraft sensors, combined with third-party data, to help industrial emitters better understand, control, and reduce their emissions. 


We are seeking a Director of IT to join our organization. Reporting to the Vice President of Software, this position will oversee the IT team responsible for helpdesk, network management, cybersecurity compliance, and overall IT infrastructure. The role requires a strategic thinker with deep knowledge of cybersecurity standards, coupled with strong technical skills in networking, IT systems, and leadership experience. 


Responsibilities: 


  • Cybersecurity & Compliance:  Lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of robust cybersecurity policies and practices to protect the company’s satellite and SaaS infrastructure. 
  • Helpdesk & Support Operations:  Oversee the IT helpdesk team, ensuring timely and effective support for internal users. 
  • Networking & IT Infrastructure:  Manage the company’s IT infrastructure both physical and AWS-based.  
  • Leadership & Team Management:   Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six IT professionals across cybersecurity, helpdesk, and infrastructure functions. 


Skills: 


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 

Experience: 

    • 5+ years of experience in IT management roles, including cybersecurity, networking, and helpdesk operations. 
    • Proven experience with cybersecurity certification and maintaining compliance with cybersecurity standards. 
    • Experience working with Cloud based SaaS platforms. 
    • Demonstrated leadership experience, with at least 3-5 years managing an IT team. 

Technical Skills:

    • Deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, including SOC2 or ISO 27001. 
    • Knowledge of networking. 
    • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and SaaS platforms. 
    • Experience managing physical servers and systems in house or in a data center.  
    • Familiarity with helpdesk tools and ticketing systems (e.g., ZenDesk).

    • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey security concepts and policies clearly. 
    • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. 
    • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure thorough security measures and compliance. 
    • Essential – Fluent in English, Fluent in French (desired) 


**Must be able to obtain Canadian government security clearance.** (CGP)
