Omitron, Inc. is looking for a Lead Engineer to join our team in our Colorado Springs, CO office. This person will lead the SOLACE project’s development of key astrodynamics applications used to support the US Space Force’s Space Situational Awareness and Space Domain Awareness mission areas.  These applications will generally replicate and modernize existing legacy applications.  This software project will require the implementation of an AGILE development approach.  This position will require candidates to be in our offices HYBRID-to-FULL TIME as necessary for project success.

Responsibilities:
  • Create a timely and success-oriented technical vision and roadmap for SOLACE software development.
  • Oversee the daily tasks of a small development team, consisting of 4-6 software engineers supporting this project.
  • Provide direction and mentorship to the junior software engineers working on SOLACE.
  • Write software for the SOLACE project.
  • Coordinate with lateral development and user teams to ensure maximum synergy between concurrent development efforts.
  • Coordinate SOLACE tasks with the SOLACE Product Owner and responsible Project Manager.
  • Support technically-focused administrative tasks relevant to software engineering such as technical interviews, annual reviews, etc.
  • Ensure SOLACE products effectively meet stakeholder needs to include code language, style, performance measures, and output consistency with legacy software.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Security Clearance Required: Top Secret with SCI eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 8 or more years of experience in software development and/or astrodynamics engineering
  • Vast experience in at least one of the following software languages: Java, C++, Fortran
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Advanced skillset in time management and task prioritization
  • Passion for creating innovative solutions in a narrow field of operations
  • Ability to multitask and identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Be a self-starter with excellent time-management and problem-solving abilities
  • Team lead or mentoring experience within a relevant field
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a related field with 15 or more years of experience consisting of both software development and astrodynamics engineering
  • Vast experience in all of the following software languages: Java, C++, Fortran, UI development, backend development, AWS technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in growing and leading a team of engineers.

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this role is $175,000 to $250,000, depending on relevant experience, location, and other factors.
