Vast is looking for a Fabrication Technician , reporting to the Senior Manager of Advanced Manufacturing, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This individual will be responsible for the assembly of varies subassemblies across the entire Space Station. In short this role is responsible for building a large portion of the secondary structure of the space station.  

This is a non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure all production services are performed on time, safely and in a professional manner
  • Stage, setup, assemble hardware, install inserts, etc.
  • Use precision calibrated tools–torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers and thread gages 
  • Hands on operations with both large and small fragile assemblies 
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications 
  • Use various mechanical tools without instructions 
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop and document activities 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate 
  • 1+ years of experience in hardware assembly, and/or installation

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in the aerospace industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environment 
  • Experience with forklifts, cranes and heavy equipment
  • Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity 
  • A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings and procedures 
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high paced, challenging environment

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work overtime, and/or weekends as needed
  • Must be able to lift at least 25lbs unassisted 
Salary Range: California
$22$36 USD
