Vast is looking for a Fabrication Technician , reporting to the Senior Manager of Advanced Manufacturing, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This individual will be responsible for the assembly of varies subassemblies across the entire Space Station. In short this role is responsible for building a large portion of the secondary structure of the space station.

This is a non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities:

Ensure all production services are performed on time, safely and in a professional manner
Stage, setup, assemble hardware, install inserts, etc.
Use precision calibrated tools–torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers and thread gages
Hands on operations with both large and small fragile assemblies
Read and interpret blueprints
Perform work according to procedures, specifications
Use various mechanical tools without instructions
Collaborate with engineers to develop and document activities
Perform other related duties as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalency certificate
1+ years of experience in hardware assembly, and/or installation

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Experience in the aerospace industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environment
Experience with forklifts, cranes and heavy equipment
Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity
A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings and procedures
Ability to use precision measuring instruments
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high paced, challenging environment

Additional Requirements:

Must be willing to work overtime, and/or weekends as needed
Must be able to lift at least 25lbs unassisted

Salary Range: California

$22—$36 USD
