SUMMARY

The Production Planner III is responsible for day-to-day scheduling and ensuring that production jobs are executed on the shop floor. This individual will collaborate with Demand Planners regularly to ensure alignment between demand forecasts and production capabilities, sharing information on potential disruptions, material shortages, or changes in production schedules. The Production Planners are responsible for the detailed scheduling and execution of production jobs on the shop floor. They ensure that production activities are carried out efficiently, on time, and in accordance with quality standards. This role is located at our manufacturing and test site in Briggs, TX, north of Cedar Park.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain production schedules based on the availability of materials and resources.

  • Sequence production jobs to optimize machine utilization and minimize downtime.

  • Convert planned orders into work orders and ensure they are released to the shop floor in a timely manner.

  • Track the progress of work orders and make adjustments to the schedule as necessary.

  • Allocate labor, machines, and tools to specific production jobs to ensure optimal use of resources.

  • Monitor resource availability and adjust schedules to address bottlenecks or capacity constraints.

  • Work closely with shop floor supervisors and technicians to resolve issues that may impact production schedules.

  • Provide real-time updates on production status to stakeholders, including Demand Planners.

  • Ensure that production activities adhere to quality standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate with the quality assurance team to address any issues that arise during production.

  • Analyze production performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.

  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and increase throughput.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply chain or related technical field
  • 5+ years experience planning/scheduling/production control in a high mix, fast paced environment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies as well as Agile organizational practices
  • Proven experience with complex problem solving
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to back up conclusions with data
  • Time management skills, with the ability to separate the important tasks from the noise
  • Sense of urgency, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Proven experience working in dynamic and evolving environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with cross functional stakeholders (Senior leadership, Production Technician, and Engineers)
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills – Must be a team player
  • Ability to thrive in high stakes, stressful, short deadline environments
  • Critical thinking, detail-oriented and strong decision making ability

Desired

  • Experience with ERP systems, Atlassian Confluence & Jira, Smartsheet, and Git/Bitbucket
  • ITAR experience.
  • Database experience with SQL, Python or similar database technologies
  • Aerospace Industry as an OEM, Supplier, Contractor, Sub-contractor.
  • Experience in an Engineering development, Proto-typing and test environment a plus.
  • Experience in AS9100 environment a plus.
  • APICS/ASCM Certification a plus
  • R & D experience.
