The Charlotte facility has been operating for over 40 years in the laser industry and has developed the reputation of providing the highest quality products with timely deliveries. Within the facility, solid-state oxide and fluoride crystals are grown from a high-temperature melt.
SYNOPTICS has full optical fabrication capabilities for various plano and spherical geometries. SYNOPTICS serves the photonics and optics industry across the globe.
This position will sit onsite at our Charlotte, NC facility.

Job Duties:
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
Support process equipment to ensure smooth 24/7 operation in Thin Film Coating departments.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining, and modifying existing coating chambers and chamber components.
Serve as the backup for the Maintenance engineer in design, fabrication, and modification of equipment and tooling.
Assist in performing preventative maintenance, maintain critical equipment and tooling in TFC; heavy lifting up to 50lbs is expected.
Work closely with manufacturing supervisors, engineers, and department personnel to fully document coating related equipment parts drawings, tooling, check sheets and to integrate them into process documentation.
Work with other department engineers and managers on long term projects such as improvement of existing and/or obsolete electrical/PLC components. Individual will be expected to learn the basics of Thin Film Deposition processes to support job function.
Basic Qualifications:
Associates Degree focusing on STEM
Excellent fine motor skills.
Good oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to follow written operational procedures.
Willingness and capability to learn new tasks.
Experience with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
Work experience within an engineering or production environment.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Previous engineering technician experience.
Ability to work on multiple projects and adjust to priority changes within a dynamic work environment.
2-year technical associate degree focusing on engineering, electronics and/or 3 years related experience.
