The Aerospace Corporation is hiring an Undergraduate Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Engineer Intern.
The Electronics and Sensors Division (ESD) is a world-class engineering and scientific leader in electronics and remote sensing systems. Our staff includes subject matter experts across a broad range of disciplines including radio frequency; infrared; visible and spectral sensors; sensor exploitation methods; analog and digital electronics; vehicle power systems; and space system electronic parts, materials and processes. Our expertise, combined with sophisticated in-house laboratories, prototyping, modeling, and simulation capabilities, enables ESD to deliver innovative solutions to national space systems and civil customers.
Work Model
This position will be located 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA.
What You’ll Be Doing
Provide scientific and engineering support in the areas of electromagnetic environmental effects, electromagnetic interference (EMI), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) to the United States Space Force, National Reconnaissance Office, and civil space programs.
Design, build, and perform laboratory experiments to investigate and mitigate electromagnetic and radiofrequency interference risks to space programs.
Gain hands-on experience performing electromagnetic and radiofrequency testing using signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and antennas; develop test methods and analyze results.
Evaluate spacecraft, launch vehicle, and infrastructure electromagnetic design and performance, including unit-, system-, and vehicle-level emissions and susceptibility.
Participate in a team of industry experts that focus on conceptual designs, requirement development, proposal evaluation, design evaluation and verification, launch operations, and anomaly root-cause and corrective action.
Contribute to The Aerospace Corporation’s goal of 100% Space Mission Success through the test and verification of protection of spacecraft and launch vehicles from harmful electromagnetic environments.

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college/university program pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship.
Sophomore class standing completed by internship start date
Minimum GPA of 3.0.
Completion of an introductory course in electricity/magnetism by internship start date.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
Completion of a course in applied electromagnetics, microwave engineering, or calculus-based electromagnetism.
Experience with programming, data analysis, or computer control of test equipment.
GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Active security clearance.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
