We are looking for an Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) Test/ Project Engineer- Project Engineer- Systems Test Engineering to work onsite at JSC as a part of their subsystem and project management leadership team. As a member of the Aerospace Civil Systems Group Human Space Flight team, you will be responsible for providing testing leadership and portfolio management of science, research and development initiatives supporting NASA programs.

Work Model

This is a full-time position based at Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX, which requires 100% onsite work.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Aerospace Human Space ECLSS Flight Test/ Project Engineer, you will be required to provide support to NASA program offices as they formulate plans and requirements for engineering, science, and research activities. 

  • Synthesizing customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that meet technical, scheduling and cost constraints.  
  • Work across the project management team to guide and integrate testing plans and initiatives. 
  • Develop and direct the preparation and execution of reviews. 
  • Evaluate comprehensive test plans, requirements, procedures, and schedules.  
  • Coordinate integrated testing activities, test requirements, technical objectives, interfaces, and standards with domain experts and team members. 
  • Review and evaluate test requirements to ensure completeness of test program.  
  • Perform technical analysis of complete systems and prepare comprehensive system level evaluations. 
  • Assist and potentially lead the development of analytical reports, including preliminary findings and recommendations. 
  • Responsible for reviewing, assessing, planning, and executing various types of testing such as system, regression, load, and acceptance.  
  • Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.  
  • Lead and/or assist with program office matters such as acquisition, cost, test environment/facility planning, and schedule development matters. 

What You Need to be Successful - Project Engineer- Systems Test Engineering 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or another appropriate technical subject area
  • At least 6 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience in related human spaceflight engineering, life support systems with a focus on testing, including experience in a systems engineering and/or program management environment
  • Prior experience managing a human space flight tests across lifecycle of a system  
  • Proficiency in various types of testing such as system, regression, load, and acceptance for human space flight systems 
  • Proven expertise testing ECLSS hardware  
  • Demonstrated experience working with NASA, International Partners, and commercial providers 
  • Skilled in preparing and presenting decision packages and change requests in a professional manner
  • Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site/domestically approx. once per quarter (5-10%)
  • This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

  • Experience testing ECLSS hardware to include air monitoring devices 
  • Experience and ability to integrate across teams and present findings and recommendations to customers and peers
