We're looking for a Mechanical Technician - Machine Shop to join our Satellite Systems team in our Montreal office.

General responsibilities of Mechanical Technicians:

• Assemble or modify test models and experimental fixtures from specific instructions or under the supervision of senior technical personnel.
• Perform a variety of tasks including installation, repair, testing and maintenance of equipment, subsystems and systems.
• Participate in testing under the supervision of senior technical personnel.
• Record results of tests or experiments.
• Read and interpret technical drawings.
• Assist senior personnel with other tasks.
• Perform periodic maintenance on equipment.
• Participate in the preparation of time and cost estimates.
• Search for and recommend parts or components for special tests and test fixtures.
• Participate in the programming and start-up of automated equipment sequences using software provided.
• Carry out work in accordance with internal procedures and in compliance with our occupational health and safety rules.
• Perform other related tasks.

Assignment to the Machine Shop:

• Machine parts on numerical or conventional controls according to estimated times.
• Read and understand CNC machining programs.
• Start up machine tools.
• Perform validation of machined parts using metrology equipment provided.

 

Qualifications: 

• DEC or equivalent in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering or related field as assigned.
• A combination of other relevant experience/education may be considered.
• 2 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  Fluency in spoken and written French. Knowledge of English an asset.
• Knowledge and experience relevant to the assignment.
• Good knowledge of CAD/CAM software.
• Good knowledge of CNC G code language.
• Basic knowledge of metrology

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
