About The Role

 

As we expand to meet future market needs, we are looking for a senior Satellite Bus Lead to drive both the systems integration and business operations aspects of our satellite bus systems, in support of the NASA Near Space Network Services (NSNS) contract. This position combines technical leadership in satellite bus integration with a strategic business focus, ensuring alignment between engineering and business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in satellite systems integration, coupled with experience in business development, contract management, and stakeholder collaboration in relation to the Near Space Network Services contract. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the integration of satellite bus systems within the LDN architecture, ensuring seamless interoperability with Nova Control, ground stations, and lunar relay satellites.
  • Work closely with executive leadership to align satellite bus development with business objectives, including the strategic direction of the LDN and its commercial offerings.
  • Collaborate with NASA and other key stakeholders to ensure that all satellite bus systems meet contractual obligations, performance metrics, and mission requirements as part of the NSNS contract.
  • Lead negotiations with satellite bus component vendors and partners, ensuring that all agreements support long-term technical and commercial success.
  • Monitor contract performance, ensuring that all satellite bus integration and operations meet the milestones set by the Near Space Network Services contract.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with both the technical and business aspects of satellite bus development, addressing potential issues in both system integration and contract execution.
  • Provide guidance to the technical teams on satellite bus system design, development, and testing, ensuring that all systems are fully integrated and operational within the LDN.
  • Market Expansion & Business Development: Support business development activities, including identifying new opportunities for satellite bus capabilities in future cislunar and lunar market applications.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical and business documentation, providing regular reports to senior management on the progress of satellite bus integration and related business operations.

 

Requisition Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 15+ years of experience in satellite systems engineering, integration, and program management, with a strong background in business operations or contract management within the aerospace or telecommunications industry.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Systems Integration Expertise: Extensive experience in the integration of satellite bus systems with payloads, communication networks, and ground control systems for commercial or government space missions.
  • Business Acumen: Proven track record of aligning technical projects with business strategies, managing contracts, and developing partnerships in the aerospace or telecommunications sectors.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with experience leading cross-functional teams that include both technical and business professionals.
  • Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with a history of successful collaboration with government agencies, vendors, and commercial partners.
  • Problem-Solving & Risk Management: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage risks associated with both technical integration and contract execution.
