About the Team:

The Vehicle Manufacturing Paint team will play a crucial role in the manufacturability of our aerospace vehicles, ensuring they meet safety and performance standards. This Senior Paint Technician will play a crucial role in helping set up our work center, develop our processes, and support paint production for our Terran R vehicle. This position requires the candidate to be able to learn Relativity Space’s process requirements, work side by side with engineering, and communicate well with all key stakeholders.

About the Role:

Collaborate with engineering teams on building the 1st Terran R paint assemblies, demonstrating effective communication skills
Help establish paint process requirements and implement process improvements, demonstrating ability to adapt to a development environment
Perform various operations in a Class 1 Division 1 hazardous zone spray booth
Train other technicians on how to apply paint per Relativity Space standards
Apply materials to assemblies using pressurized tools
Perform in-process quality checks and measurements
Ensure 5S principles are maintained in the work center and follow clean as you go practices

About You:

5+ years of aerospace mechanical experience or related field
3+ years of experience with paint surface prep and application (spray, brush, and roll) operations
Experience installing flight hardware, demonstrating strong attention to detail and concern for product quality
Proficient in using calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, multimeters, and precision inspection equipment
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, which may involve working at heights or lifting up to 25 pounds

Nice to haves but not required:

Proficient use of Microsoft Office
Proficiency of relevant aerospace industry standards and specifications
Experience with TPS bonding or manufacturing
Proficient in bond prep and bonding processes with RTVs and other adhesives
Experience with precision drilling
Experience with avionics hardware
Ability to translate blueprints to functional requirements

Hiring Range:

$33.15—$42.90 USD
