Your Mission

As a working student for the Technical Team, your mission is to advance the design of our Aquila engine to make it suitable for controlled landings for the purpose of an ongoing development program. Drawing upon your academic expertise and innovative mindset, you will work on the throttleability of the Aquila engine. Your collaborative and forward-thinking approach will be instrumental in achieving our objectives: revolutionizing space accessibility and advancing the frontiers of the space industry.

More specifically, you will:

  • Keep up with and report industry trends related to reusability
  • Perform engine cycle calculations for different phases of the flight envelope
  • Derive requirements for a valve system to throttle the Aquila engine
  • Design a valve system to match these requirements
  • Perform fluid analysis to validate your design

Who you are and what you have

  • Master or Bachelor study in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or similar
  • Experience with CAD systems (preferably Solidworks)
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics and experience with computational fluid dynamics
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems
  • Experience with Python or a similar programming language
  • Technical affinity with a pronounced understanding of rocketry
  • Strong in organization and prioritization of tasks
  • Can-do attitude and outstanding communication skills
  • Fluent in German and English

  • Hands-on experience with fluid systems
  • Experience in design of propulsion systems
  • Experience in prototyping
  • Participated actively in a rocketry working student group
