About The Role
The Deputy Program Manager (DPM) or Deputy Project Lead will assist in managing and coordinating space programs, working directly with the Program Manager (PM) to ensure successful execution across multiple projects. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, project management experience, and a passion for space exploration. You will support the PM in day-to-day operations, ensuring that programs stay on track in terms of budget, schedule, headcount, and technical performance. This role requires close collaboration with internal teams, external customers, and stakeholders
If selected, you will:
Responsibilities:
- Support the Program Manager in the execution of multiple space projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budget, and technical goals.
- Assist in managing program resources, including labor allocation, headcount planning, and cost forecasting to meet project milestones.
- Track and monitor program budgets, expenditures, and schedules to ensure projects remain within scope and on time.
- Prepare and deliver program status updates, reports, and presentations to customers, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
- Maintain close communication with customers, acting as a secondary point of contact to ensure alignment on program requirements and deliverables.
- Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, finance) to ensure project deliverables are met in a timely and efficient manner.
- Identify and manage program risks, developing mitigation strategies to resolve issues before they impact project timelines or performance.
- Assist in contract and subcontract management, ensuring that deliverables and customer requirements are met.
- Ensure adherence to programmatic and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Foster a collaborative team environment and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
Requisition Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in project or program management, preferably in the aerospace, defense, or space industries.
- Experience managing space programs or projects is highly preferred, but candidates with strong project management experience and a passion for space will be considered.
- Familiarity with managing project budgets, labor planning, and resource allocation.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Prior technical experience in engineering projects highly preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with customers, stakeholders, and team members.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar tools) and strong analytical skills for tracking project metrics.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and implement solutions.
