Rocket Lab’s IT team is responsible for how our global teams access information and run operations across our computer systems, networks, and devices. Our hardworking IT team is a group of flexible problem-solvers working in a fast-paced environment but who also thrive under the challenge of supporting all of our proprietary systems and people, from finance to launch operations.

TEAM LEAD – OPERATIONAL DATA

We're seeking an experienced software developer and team leader who excels in creating innovative data management solutions, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, and driving continuous improvement in software development practices. If you have a strong technical background ,proven leaderships skills(team of 10) and a passion for delivering high-quality software products, we want to hear from you!

 WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:

  • Craft cutting-edge APIs, services, and tools that revolutionise data indexing, retrieval, and visualisation
  • Engineer sophisticated data pipelines that transform insights into actionable intelligence
  • Design and implement game-changing APIs and services to automate critical company processes
  • Develop and refine software solutions that meet and exceed our data management needs
  • Maintain and optimise existing software infrastructure
  • Design and document robust, well-tested products that set industry standards
  • Drive global cross-functional collaboration through active participation in code reviews and approvals
  • Shape the future of our software ecosystem by defining and refining requirements and architecture
  • Establish clear benchmarks for project completion and team performance
  • Provide feedback and improvements on technical documents, processes and procedures including technical documents outside of their pertinent role/expertise
  • Prioritise risk effectively and make risk/reward trade-off calls by leveraging quality engineering, senior engineering, and production input to mitigate risk to rocket and risk to business
  • Report to the wider business on current status, any blockers and accommodates any discussions which can unlock current or future blockers
  • Coaches others on best approach to discussion; steers team on when to debate constructively
  • Ensure team is trained and developed to achieve department objectives
  • Aligns team for on-the-job training when it's better suited than creating special training materials

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Tertiary diploma, certificate, or degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering-related disciplines.
  • Experience with leadership of software development teams.
  • Product definition and development experience.
  • Agile development practices, focusing on value delivery.
  • Jira, Redmine, or other issue tracker.
  • Python experience, including common data analysis libraries and tools.

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • User interfaces and user experience.
  • Other programming languages and paradigms.
  • Experience working close to the hardware, for example with embedded software or manufacturing processes.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
