The Aerospace Corporation is hiring a Signal Processing and RF Engineering Intern for the Communication Software Implementation Department (CSID within the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED).  This position will be located in El Segundo, CA.

Job Summary

The Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED) represents the disciplines of communications, networking, and PNT (Position, Navigation, and Timing) in support of space missions, along with their enabling technologies. In our domain, CTED projects comprise all aspects, from architectures to prototypes to implementation, theoretical to hands-on.  Our engineers work directly with corporate and U.S. Government customers to ensure robust and resilient communications.

The Communication Software Implementation Department (CSID) performs proof-of-concept studies, implements new algorithms, and builds prototypes for signal processing applications. We are subject matter experts who provide technical advice to our customers on satellite communication systems.

Work Model:

100% Onsite: This position will be located 100% onsite in El Segundo, California 

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Design, build, code, and test software/hardware prototypes for signal processing applications.

  • Deliver tech demos and briefings.

  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, both independently and in small team within the department

  • Training and mentorship will be provided.

What You Need to be Successful 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college/university program pursuing a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related discipline 

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0  

  • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 -12 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship.

  • Software development experience in one or more of these languages: Python, C/C++, Golang, Rust, Swift, Julia

  • Familiarity with digital signal processing and RF communication technique

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Transcripts required. 

How You Can Stand Out 

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these: 

  • Active security clearance 

  • Experience in satellite communications, CubeSats, or GPS/GNSS/PNT systems. 

  • Development experience in software-defined radio environment such as GNU Radio 

  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning techniques

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.  The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.  Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
