About the Role

Are you looking to use your expert manufacturing operations and engineering skills in an industry that supports and protects explorers and heroes? We could use your expertise on our team! As an Operations Manager I, you'll drive the strategic goals for one or more areas in operations such as overseeing and managing manufacturing operations, production control, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, inventory control, and/or materials functions, such as purchasing, and shipping/receiving activities. You'll improve technologies, and resolve problems in conjunction with manufacturing, quality assurance, and engineering. Your duties will also include translating customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of company products, developing operations-related plans, budgets, policies and procedure, and ensuring the operations environment is safe and in compliance with all regulations in regards to the production facility.

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or related field of study

  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education

  • Basic understanding of and experience with the practical application of production/manufacturing principles, techniques and best practices

  • Ability to understand and interpret technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications

  • Experience with materials management systems

  • Previous supervisory experience; the ability to recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence



Preferred:

  • Typically 2-4 years of relevant experience

  • A higher level degree may substitute for experience

  • Familiarity with Lean, Six-sigma, and/or Theory of Constraints Manufacturing Principles

  • Understanding of Assembly, Integration and Test practices

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military

Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

Estimated Starting Salary Range:

$95,298.10 - $131,034.90
