Virgin Galactic is seeking a talented and motivated Specialist Engineer/Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be able to perform the Responsibilities of the position and meet many of the Knowledge/Experience requirements. Responsibilities
- Work with project engineering to develop Product Safety artifacts for new and existing designs.
- An applicant must have experience with one or more safety analyses from either or both major safety areas below:
- System Safety Analysis (SSA)
- Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA)
- Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Risk identification, prioritization, and management
- Flight Safety Analysis (FSA)
- Trajectory Analysis
- Debris Analysis
- Probability of Failure Analysis
- Population Exposure Analysis
- Flight Hazard Area Analysis
Required Skills and Experience
- Provide support and risk advice to production, maintenance, technical, project or program personnel
- B.S. or M.S. degree in an Engineering discipline, Mathematics or Physics from an accredited university
- Knowledge of Systems Engineering development lifecycles
- Knowledge of software development practices and design assurance methods such as DO-178 or ARP4754 preferred
- Knowledge of electronic hardware design assurance methods such as DO-254 preferred
- Experience with Built-In-Test and its application to RM&S preferred
- Knowledge of FAA commercial space regulations preferred, CFR §400.
- Detailed knowledge of the inputs and outputs of the various RM&S analysis techniques
- Experience with the system safety methods of ARP4761 or MIL-STD-882, with emphasis on hazard mitigation processes
- Experience with Human Factors and its application to RM&S preferred
- Must have experience with a fault tree modeling software
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical engineering drawings, to include schematics, wiring diagrams and assembly drawings
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Strong statistical analysis skills preferred Professional Requirements:
- 10 or more years of relevant experience in aerospace or similar field
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and written communication skills
- Team player with excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision, adaptable to changing environments, and able to handle multiple tasks and/or projects simultaneously
The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $132,100.00–$201,550.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
