We are looking to add a Principal Project (Responsible) Engineer I to our team. If you are great at what you do, enjoy working in a startup environment, and are passionate about developing leading-edge communications payloads and satellites, we would like to hear from you.
 
In this position, you will be responsible for project engineering through all phases of the development process for both external customers and internally driven projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in project management, quality assurance, manufacturing of electronic and mechanical assemblies, supply chain, and organization across engineering functions. Experience in electronic assembly development is required, with space flight development preferred. You will utilize your practical engineering expertise to lead technical decisions with the project team, coordinate between engineering functional teams, estimate and manage project budgets and timelines for highly technical projects. 
 
Specific job functions will include developing project schedules, budgets, and risks and reporting to program and company leadership on a regular basis. You will coordinate activities across multidiscipline engineering teams and raise issues at the program level to ensure proper resourcing. You will interact with our customers as a technical leader. You will help drive complex development programs to a successful completion!
 
The successful candidate will present engineering design review materials and status reports to our customers and executive team, as well as participate in proposal-writing efforts. As such, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in a relevant engineering field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Physics Systems Engineering) from an accredited university or institution.
  • 9 years of industry experience in a relevant engineering or project position.
  • Expert in project management tools such as Microsoft Project and Jira.
  • Technical leader with electrical, mechanical, and software systems as well as systems of systems.
  • Experience mentoring less experienced project engineers and design engineers in associated discipline
  • Thorough understanding of aerospace systems engineering processes from concept to production. Specifically, understanding of the space system life cycle.
  • Experience in driving complex electrical/mechanical development efforts to completion.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High energy and a “get it done” attitude.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in space avionics and payload development.
  • Experience designing electronic assemblies.
  • Familiarity with communications systems and RF system engineering.
  • Experience at a startup company.
  • Experience with project management at an established company.
  • Experience with both Research & Development and New Product Development projects.
  • Experience managing projects for government and commercial customers.
