Propulsion R&D Engineer [F/M]

Job Description 👨‍💻

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Propulsion R&D Engineer [F/M] at our Massy site specializing in propulsion technologies to join our team. This role involves conducting advanced research, developing cutting-edge propulsion technologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring innovative solutions to the market.

Attached to the Technology Team, your responsibilities will be:

📌 Design, analyse and develop advanced propulsion technologies.

📌 Plan and conduct laboratory tests to validate propulsion system performance under various conditions.

📌 Analyse test data, identify discrepancies and implement corrective measures to optimize system performance.

📌 Explore new materials, manufacturing techniques and technologies.

📌 Write technical reports, research papers and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

📌 Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all research activities, experiments and project progress.

📌 Design and oversee the construction of prototypes, ensuring they meet technical specifications and safety standards.

📌 Identify opportunities for innovation within the propulsion domain and propose new research initiatives.

📌 Contribute to patent applications and intellectual property strategies related to propulsion technologies.

Preferred Experience 💁‍♀️

• You hold a PhD in electric or chemical propulsion or plasma physics.
• Previous hands-on experience with laboratory equipment.
• You are familiar with electric propulsion and have hands-on experience in this field.
• You have experience with software for test applications and data processing, such as LabView, MATLAB or Python.

• You have a critical and constructive mindset and want to understand the behaviour of your experiments.
• You are willing to propose measured risks.
• You have a high degree of autonomy.
• You have great communication skills, both writing- and speaking-wise.
• You have good technical writing skills.
• You are proficient in English.
• You want to bring agility to space and develop new services based on high-level technologies.
