Kepler is on an audacious mission: to bring the internet to space. Founded in 2015, our ambition is to provide internet connectivity in space, whether in LEO, MEO, GEO, or beyond. With an expanding base of early customers and our first 23 satellites in orbit, Kepler is continuing to grow and expand its most important asset – the Team!
The Chief of Staff (CoS) at Kepler will serve as an extension of the CEO and is dedicated to guiding the company from its pre-revenue phase into a thriving period of sustainable growth and expansion. Anchored in this ambition, the CoS will prioritize enhancing leadership capabilities, fostering a culture of relentless innovation, and refining the implementation of necessary systems and processes. This role requires a keen focus on transforming the organizational culture and significantly improving operational efficiency to achieve tangible results.
An essential element of the CoS's role is to enhance the effectiveness of the CEO and executive team, expertly manage change, and support Kepler’s leadership in achieving significant transformations within a two to three-year period. The goal is to ensure that Kepler achieves its strategic objectives and secures a strong position in the market.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Development:
- Partner closely with the CEO, executive team and on all matters of leadership.
- Mentor, develop, and support the executive and leadership teams, ensuring they possess the skills, capability, and acumen to execute the company’s strategy.
- Assist in recruiting and retaining talent that matches Kepler's strategic needs and culture.
Organizational Transformation:
- Nurture a culture of innovation and forward-thinking that embraces change and continuous improvement while fostering a collective mindset that reflects the company's IDEA values and aligned with Kepler’s mission.
- Lead change initiatives that support long-term scalability, including organizational, operational, and digital transformation.
- Introduce agile processes, tools, and systems that can evolve as the company grows, ensuring they are robust yet flexible to accommodate current and future scaling needs.
- Implement improvements, such as optimizing functional areas, strengthening business governance, and utilizing cutting-edge technologies to achieve operational excellence.
Fundraising Support:
- Assist in developing investor pitches and crafting compelling stories to attract venture capital and other funding sources.
- Support investment due diligence, identifying risks and implementing mitigation plans.
- Engage with potential investors, outlining the strategic plan and transformation roadmap.
Communication and Coordination:
- Champion of Kepler’s internal communication to achieve a culture where employees feel consistently informed on our strategic priorities and developments.
- Lead the collection and preparation of materials for BoD meetings, as well as managing deliverables stemming from actions items taken at BoD meetings
- Act as the primary liaison between the CEO and department managers, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
- Communicate effectively with all functions and levels of the organization to ensure understanding and buy-in for strategic initiatives.
- Provide seamless integration and coordination of efforts among departments, programs, and services.
Operational Excellence:
- Champion Kepler’s process of setting objectives and developing a system of holding leaders accountable to progress against them.
- Implement performance metrics and KPIs to monitor progress against strategic objectives.
- Helping executive team members determine and prioritize business strategies.
- Oversee all aspects of ground-up development strategy, ensuring proper systems are in place to mitigate risks.
- Hold the CEO and executive leadership accountable for their commitments, ensuring they not only talk the talk but also walk the walk.
