About The Position 

We are seeking an experienced and technically adept Lunar Data Network Ground Systems Engineering & Integration Lead. This senior role involves overseeing the integration and engineering of ground systems within the LDN. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in satellite communications, ground station technologies, and systems engineering, with a proven track record in managing complex integration projects. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the engineering and integration efforts for ground systems within the Lunar Data Network. Ensure that all components, including Nova Control, ground stations, and base-band units, function seamlessly together.
  • Oversee the integration of diverse ground systems and technologies to achieve optimal performance. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all systems meet technical and operational requirements.
  • Manage the lifecycle of ground systems engineering projects from initial planning through deployment and operational support. Ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Provide expert guidance on the design, development, and implementation of ground systems. Address technical challenges and develop solutions to enhance system functionality and performance.
  • Identify and assess technical risks associated with software development and implementation, developing mitigation strategies to ensure mission success.
  • Provide technical support and expertise during mission planning, execution, and post-mission analysis, addressing software-related issues and challenges as needed.
  • Stay informed about advancements in ground systems technology and industry trends. Lead initiatives to incorporate cutting-edge technologies and practices into LDN ground systems.
  • Act as the primary technical interface with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, partners, and regulatory bodies. Ensure alignment on project objectives and address technical inquiries and issues.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate software design, performance, and status to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering and integration within the space industry. Extensive background in satellite communications, ground station technologies, and data relay systems. 
  • Strong Systems Engineering & Integration principles, with skills in MBSE, Cameo and other tools preferred 
  • Deep knowledge of systems engineering principles, ground systems integration, and satellite communication technologies. Experience with cislunar space operations is highly desirable.
  • Experience with software development methodologies and tools, including Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of space mission operations and experience working with government agencies such as NASA or the Department of Defense (DoD) preferred.
