Summary
 
We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) team in Goleta, CA. In this role you will work on a variety of program tasks ranging from Requirements and Verification Management, Test Campaign Planning, Solar Array Power Management and Analysis, and Specialty Engineering (M&P, Reliability, Radiation, EEE parts, and more) roles.  You will have the opportunity to work on projects of all sizes including such high-profile programs as International Space Station and Gateway Lunar Space Station Solar Arrays.
 
Responsibilities
  • Act as a Lead SEIT Engineer on a project team for satellite subsystems and components.
  • Requirements and Verification Management including customer collaboration, requirements decomposition and flow down, creation and maintenance of verification matrices.
  • Communicate decomposed requirements to the project team functional roles.
  • Develop verification plans and coordinate activities with different engineering functions.
  • Compile and maintain system mass database with contingency in order to support customer mass requirements, and interface mass requirements and properties to structural analysis and design engineering.
  • Test Plan generation based on requirements verification matrix.
  • Evaluate test data and analysis results and generate reports to verify that system/subsystem meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Perform Space Specialty Engineering analysis and evaluations including hardware qualification, materials and process evaluation, radiation analysis and testing
  • Develop Solar Array sub-assembly acceptance and qualification test plans
  • Perform reliability, FMECA analysis and lifecycle analysis for space hardware and systems
  • Perform EEE component selection, Derating, lifetime and failure analysis
  • Support hardware integration and testing at spacecraft level integration.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from management and customers.
Ideal Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with 5+ years of experience or a Master’s with 3+ years of experience.
  • Self-motivated in applying engineering principles, concepts, and practices of mechanical / aerospace engineering to independently perform assignments.
  • US Citizen or US Person as defined by ITAR regulations
Desired Skills
  • Experience working on spacecraft systems
  • Experience in developing, managing, and decomposing requirements and verification methods
  • Experience developing test plans and managing hardware test campaigns
  • Experience using JAMA or DOORS
  • Basic proficiency in CAD programs (Inventor, Solidworks, ProE, etc)
  • Basic familiarity with numerical methods and data processing (MATLAB, Python, etc)
  • Experience designing or working with Electrical Test support equipment
  • Experience in space hardware materials and processes
  • Ability to work mostly independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

Pay Range
$110,000 - $145,000/yr.

How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy)
Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth.  Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
