Job description

As the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will play a vital role in leading and managing electrical engineering projects. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and components. You will provide technical expertise, guidance, and support to the team to ensure the successful execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Leadership: Lead the design and development of electrical systems and components, including power distribution, control systems, and electrical interfaces. Ensure designs meet mission requirements and industry standards.
  • Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of electrical engineers. Provide technical guidance, manage project assignments, and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Project Management: Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources. Ensure that electrical engineering projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems into spacecraft and satellite platforms. Ensure seamless integration with mechanical, thermal, and software systems.
  • Testing and Validation: Develop and execute test plans for electrical systems. Conduct performance and reliability testing to validate system functionality and compliance with specifications.
  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve technical issues related to electrical systems. Troubleshoot problems and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and technical manuals. Ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant with company standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior role. Experience in designing and developing electrical systems for aerospace or high-tech industries is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical system design, power distribution, control systems, and electrical interfaces. Proficiency with engineering tools and software for design and simulation (e.g., MATLAB, SPICE).
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of engineers. Strong project management skills and experience overseeing complex engineering projects.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and interact effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, including significant experience in a lead or management role. Experience with spacecraft or satellite systems is a plus.
  • Advanced Skills: Expertise in advanced electrical systems design and integration techniques. Familiarity with high-voltage systems, radiation-hardened electronics, and space-qualified components.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in electrical engineering or project management (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PMP)) are a plus.
  • Industry Experience: Extensive experience working in aerospace or space technology sectors, including understanding of the unique requirements and challenges associated with electrical systems for space missions.
  • Innovation: Demonstrated ability to drive innovation in electrical system design and implementation, contributing to the development of cutting-edge space technologies.

  • This position may include access to technology and/or software source code that is subject to U.S. export controls.
